Etsy Inspired #94--6.26.10

Ooooohh I am so delighted and honored to be chosed to design for the Etsy Inspired Design blog! I am a huge fan of the blog, but also of Etsy as it showcase so many wonderful, handmade works of art. I find myself getting lost in the great product I find. When I first came upon Etsy Inspired Design blog, I was pretty new to blogging, but since then I have loved getting inspiration from another art form and contributing it to my cards! For me it gets my creative juices flowing! I am excited to be a part of this team and having the opportunity to challenge myself every week with something new to draw creativity from.

So, I was asked to join the team on June 29th, which means that I missed last weeks DT examples, but I loved SandBox Studio's bags so much that I decided, what the heck? I'll create something because I love the designs soo much. So here is my take on it.

Sandbox Studio creates fun and funky tote bags, gift boxes and gift card holders using burlap adorned with whimsical felt stitched birds, branches, owls, flowers and the most beautiful little roses! Some of the bags incorporate a contrasting patterned fabric trim which adds the perfect splash of color. I adore the designs and can totally see myself sporting these.

I hope that you're as inspired as I was. For my design I chose to use a kraft paper as a neutral background like the burlap. The paper trim; "Get the Camera" is from My Little Shoebox's "Imagine a Forest" collection. I then created the birds using cardstock and hand-stitching with wings adorned with rhinestone bling, since I love BLING! I took a little twig from my yard, and created my own roses from cardstock by rolling them! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this card!

And now it's your turn!! Take a look at SandBox studio's beautiful creations, and create your own inspirational work and get it linked up to the Etsy Inspired Design blog and you could win one of her BEAUTIFUL bags. Our sponsor this week is Tyggereye Art and they are giving away a $25 credit to use in their shop! Check them out at http://tyggereye.blogspot.com/

Hey all!! It's been sooo long since I have posted on here which has been driving me bonkers!! I have been creating dozens of cards, but since they've been submitted for various publication calls, I haven't been able to post them just yet! However, I received terrific news!! CARDS Magazine accepted two of my designs for the November 2010 issue! I was sooo thrilled! I have never been published, and this was my major goal for the summer!!! I am ecstatic. Right now I am designing cards for their December 2010 call, and just submitted 18 cards to Paper Crafts yesterday for their Cards Creations: Favorite Occassions. I am hoping that at least one design gets chosen.

But, I do have some Father's Day cards to share in the meantime. I gave these cards to my own wonderful dad, my husband's father & his brother, as well as my uncle. It was fun using non-girly embellishments, but it was also a little challenging. Ribbons, rhinestones and flowers are out--washers, hanging wire and nuts are in. I used paper from Graphic45's "A Perfect Gentleman's" collection as well as wood paper from Creative Imaginations, cork and even sandpaper. LOVED LOVED LOVED working with this collection!!

Hope you enjoy! I'll be posting a lot more if these cards aren't accepted. Here's the Father's Day cards!
