Paper Therapy-November 29 2010

Hello all!! Welcome to our  ninth challenge at  Paper Therapy.  Paper Therapy is an online forum for scrapbookers and card makers to share their work, meet new friends, learn new tips and techniques and have fun!! I hope you can join us every week in our challenges! The previous seven have been SUPER fun and were seeing some really incredible designs!

Here's how it works. Every monday a new challenge will be posted in the forum. You upload your design   and have the chance to win the weekly challenge. A fabulous prize and winner blinkie will be awarded the first challenge winner of every month, and then subsequent challenge winners will win an awesome blinkie to share with the whole world, showing them that you rocked the  Paper Therapy challenge.

This week's challenge was to create a project using buttons and bows. I didn't want to go the typical route with simply tying a bow, and placing a button on it. Luckily, my recent order from Papertrey Ink arrived, and inside was the Build-A-Banner stamp and die set. Massive inspiration!!

The bow in my card is a little stamp, and the buttons hold the banner together

Now it's your turn! Make sure to post your card or layout to the message board by midnight on Saturday, December 4th. I hope that you play along with us this week at  Paper Therapy

This week's prize is a Bo Bunny grab bag---Oooohhh!!! I love Bo Bunny, and it's always fun to get a BAG full of goodies. There will be two monthly posts with challenges featuring showcased products from the story, using the latest techniques in paper-crafting! What's even better is that you get to participate too!! So, what are you waiting for?

You can visit Paper Vineyard's blog to see my designs along with the other amazing team member's fantastic creations. This week I was given some Shimmerz, patterned paper from We R Memory Keepers, and some fabulously cool new mesh ribbon.

Oh Christmas Tree!
I put down painter's tape to shape a tree.
I then painted Shimmerz over it, heat set the paint, and then pulled off the tape.
Afterwards, I inked the masked image, and stitched a tree outline

I added and stitched buttons to the tree for a feminine and vintage feel

To top it off, a fun sentiment from an old favorite Christmas song,
"Oh Christmas Tree."

XoXo-P.S. I Love You
I covered the card base with patterned paper, painted the edges with
white paint and some green Shimmerz. Lots of layering on this card

I distressed a pink chipboard frame, and added Shimmerz to the flowers
Love the little lettering beads, couldn't resist adding them

You can see a little white mesh peeking through, and that fabulous
sparkly ribbon that I bunched up under the frame

So, don't delay!! You have until December 11th at 9pm to link your card using Mr. Linky!! Follow the links  on the right side of my blog to visit the sites of my other fellow designers further inspiration!

I love the precious little birds, guinea pigs and whimsical creations found in this shop! I feel happy looking at this art. Here's the piece that I was inspired by. I loved the simple lines, yet romantic feel of it.

Here's what I came up with. I wanted to stick with the simplicity, so I stitched the lettering and a simple border.

I added a little bling to give it a soft, feminine look.

Hanukkah Fun!!

Hey Everybody!!! My dear friend, Ruby commissioned me to make her some Hanukkah cards for a few friends of hers! I was SOOO excited, and accepted with delight. I was happy to do this because the challenge of making a Hanukkah card seemed like fun, and also it was the first time anyone had actually commissioned me to design something for them!!  I was so thrilled to do this that I finished them both over the course of two days, which with teaching and design team duties, submission and holiday gift making is almost impossible.

So, the first card is a graphic and clean design. I used my Martha
Stewart Scoring Board to create a frame around the candles that I fussy-cut from
a chandelier stamp. (I showed this finished card to my hubby, and
he asked, "Don't menorah's have eight candles?" Haha, no.)
The glitter is applied to scored strips of Scor-tape! I LOVE
this technique!
The next card is a vintage Shabby-chic style. Is that even Hanakkuh?
Who cares? I loved it! My friend loved it, it's all good
Love the blue and gray, so I used a silver doily and some
Waltzingmouse Stamps
The sentiments is from Papertrey Ink
I added some crocheted trim, eyelet lace, vintage buttons and
a dimensional corrugated table from Pink Paislee's Anthology collection
Add a little bling for a soft, romantic feel

Hope you enjoy!! Loved making these, I'd be happy to make more for you!

Paper Therapy-November 22 2010

Hello all!! Welcome to our  eighth challenge at  Paper Therapy.  Paper Therapy is an online forum for scrapbookers and card makers to share their work, meet new friends, learn new tips and techniques and have fun!! I hope you can join us every week in our challenges! The previous seven have been SUPER fun and were seeing some really incredible designs!

This week's challenge is to create to a card for a man, which is sometimes a challenge for me as most of my papers, stamps and embellishments are 'girl-oriented.'

I used Basic Grey ledger paper, and stamped a car from October Afternoon.

I stitched the sides of the paper that the car is on and border punched the
edge so it resembled a notebook page
I stamped a ledge on the card and heat embossed it with silver
embossing powder.

The "b free" sentiment could be perfect for a young man's birthday or college graduation!

Now is your turn! Make sure to post your card or layout to the message board by midnight on Saturday, November 27th. I hope that you play along with us this week at  Paper Therapy

Aren't these GORGEOUS!? They're almost too good to EAT because they're little works of art!
So, here's the one I was inspired by:

As you can all probably tell, I am a fan of all things vintage....that's the whole theme of my Christmas decorations, and trees...yes, I do have multiple trees, including a pink tinsel tree.

I combined the colors of lavender, grey, green and kraft
and used Inchies from this week's sponsor

I cut squares of patterned paper, distressed and stitched them to the card.
I love bunched seam binding, and jute twine, so I had to add some.
I just got some of Pink Paislee's Anthology Dimension Corrugated shapes , and added a Maya Road pin
and Prima flower.

There's a lot of stitching with my fabulous new Brother machine!
I also love love love my white vintage buttons, so to soften up
the layout, I stitched some on.

With the Inchies from this
week's sponsor, I distressed them, painted the edges and stamped a motif

I had soooo much fun with this week's shop and sponsor. Our sponsor this week is  Inchies . The squares I used are Inchies, which are high quality artist grade, solid core matteboard squares. Because of their quality you can use any wet medium from  paints to stains to inks without the surface deteriorating. So, they're versatile and have many different uses. Inchies come in an array of neutral colors like white, ivory, dark cream, wheat, light grey, dark grey and black. Inchies will offer our second winner an assortment of goodies valued at $25!   This week's challenge is to create to a Thank You Card or What I am Thankful layout. I chose to make a Thank you card.

The flowers are made from two techniques: making yo-yo flowers and from gathering ribbon.
To gather ribbon into a flower, first cut a length of ribbon to desired length. Straight stitch one edge, pull the thread until it ruffles and pull into a circle. To make Yo-Yo flowers, cut a circle of fabric, straight stitch the outer edge of the circle and gather into a circle in the center. You can stitch a button on top of the Yo-Yo flower.

Now is your turn! Make sure to post your card or layout to the message board by midnight on Friday, November 18th. I hope that you play along with us this week at  Paper Therapy
