Toolbox Sneak Peak with Studio Calico

I'm excited to be contributing to Studio Calico's upcoming TOOLBOX classThis class will fill your crafting toolbox with cool tips on stitching, mixed media, misting and digital from four technique masters. Amy Tan, Celine Navarro, Geralyn Sy and Shanna Noel will each spend a week in August teaching you the ins and outs of their favorite techniques. I'll be contributing to the digital week, and I'm going to be sharing an awesome card that shows you how to mix digital and traditional crafting starting with a digital card created in Photoshop!

Here's a sneak peek of part of the card base. Join the class and you'll see how I add traditional paper crafting supplies to snaz it up!

Through 7.24, Studio Calico has a cool offer for everyone who signs up for Toolbox - they'll be able to pass a FREE spot in the class to a friend. Here are all the details :

You'll want to stop by Shanna Noel's blog for a chance to win a spot in the class, and then pop over to the Studio Calico blog for more links to class sneaks and giveaways!

Crafty Desktop Organizer with SEI

In the ever expanding goal of organizing my craft space (okay, let's be honest--my desk), I'm always thinking of ways to better store my crafting tools and display little notes to myself about a project or what to buy at the crafting store on my next trick. Once again SEI and a small buy at Target save the day!

I purchased this adorable desk top caddy that has four spaces to store tools, and then embellished two sides.
I adhered a little cork board to the side and embellished some thumbtacks with papers from The Mia Bella assortment pack. On an opposite side I adhered SEI's chalkboard paper, so I can make little notes to myself, and erase them when need be.
Try and find practical uses for your crafting product. This is chalkboard paper from March's Papercrafting kit. I trimmed it down and added it to the side. Don't forget to add embellishments for added flair!

Craft a Sewing Kit with SEI

Sometimes I like practical gifts, not all the time...but sometimes. Especially, when I am thinking, "man, a mini perfume spray would be the perfect solution to mask my bbq smoke-filled hair and clothes. So, today's project is a perfect little trinket that can come in handy wherever you are.

I found the most adorably tiny little sewing kit and matching frame at Target, and I thought this would be a fun gift to give to any lady on the go (you never know when you'll need to mend something). To create this kit and chalkboard memo frame combo, I used pattern papers from the Blooms and Blossoms Envelope album kit because they were the perfect scale for such a small project.
Look at how perfectly all the little notions fit in the teeny tiny tube. To make it easy to find in your purse or bag, pick a fun print like the chevron pattern and line the inside of the container with it. Then pick a contrasting color to wrap around the lip of the lid.
This little frame is super handy for making little notes to yourself about your sewing projects. I trimmed a chalkboard label into a square and embellished it with some patterned paper and photo corners from Blooms and Blossoms Envelope album kit. Best part about the frame? It's so cute and useful, that you'll never lose your measurements again!
Coordinate your kit components with matching papers and colors! I wrapped the button bag and threads in yellow houndstooth print paper and added a pink contrast to them to go with the kits color scheme!
