Hey lovely friends. This is the weekend that the annual Craft and Hobby Show takes place. Usually, I am there with friends surveying new products, chatting with companies and having a blast, but since little Twig is making her arrival in March, I am too exhausted to roam the floor, so I am watching from a distance, which makes me kind of sad, since I always have a blast meeting up with crafting friends for a girl's weekend devoted to the love of paper-crafting.
However, this year is fun because I am doing something new to celebrate CHA, as well as my love of paper crafting. Studio Calico is hosting a virtual blog hop to showcase it's newest team members, and I am playing along in the hop. For my challenge, I created a card based on this lovely sketch from a card created by my talented creative team buddy, Chari Moss. Sketches are wonderful because they provide enough enough information to jump start your creative mojo, while allowing your creative style to shine through.
For my interpretation on Chari's card, I flipped the orientation of my card and covered the base with cork paper from the Valley High card kit. I then cut strips of patterned paper from the Valley High card kit and this month's card add on, Spaulding Bowl and adhered them to the card base. I twisted and knotted some trim and stapled it to the bottom of the card base, and layered a sentiment sticker and always die cut over the ribbon trim. The sentiment reads, "You mean the world to me…always."
For some finishing touches, I added an enamel dot and stapled sequin to the card base, and adhered an inked chipboard heart that I inked over some knotted thread and placed on a miniature doily die cut.
Thank you so much for taking the time to join me on this fun little virtual hop. I'd love to see more of you--make sure to follow me on Pinterest and Instagram. Make sure to check out Studio Calico's newest lines at their booth--they're soooo beautiful! You'll love them!
Wish I could have met you at this CHA, Emily! But alas, little Twig and your health are more important. Next time! <3
